ABOUT
ABOUT

I live in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan located on Treaty 4 Territory, I moved from Japan in 2011, began making textile art blending imagery from rural Saskatchewan with Japanese aesthetic qualities of Wabi-Sabi.
I am deeply spiritual, and I try to find a wholeness in the chaotic universe around us all. This is an anchor of my being and of my art.
Japan is a culture of respects nature and has a deep awe of nature. It is believed that there are eight million gods (spirits) within nature. We humans are a part of nature, and all things have life... beautiful mountains and rivers, flowers and trees, stones, clouds and even the wind all have spirits. This spirituality is the foundation of my work.
My art tries to find peacefulness, happiness, and fun in life and to appreciate the ephemeral beauty of nature. My gentle approach creates a sense of peace and calm in the viewer.
In 2024, in addition to my textile art, I made my debut as a painter. My work can be seen and purchased at The Black Spruce Gallery. My works are characterized by their simplicity yet deep storytelling, evoking a sense of serenity and introspection. I has also begun presenting vibrant pop art pieces, inspired by the joy of life and the charm of northern Canadian animals such as moose, bear, fox and elk, that bring a playful perspective to my body of work.
My art aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the intrinsic bond between nature and humanity. I am particularly passionate about sharing gratitude for the spirits within nature and the fleeting beauty of the world around us.
My art is represented in the SK Arts Permanent Collection, and I was nominated for the Emerging Artists Award in 2021. My solo exhibition was on an OSAC two-year traveling tour in Saskatchewan until 2024. My pieces have been juried nationally and internationally, with some included in private and corporate collections. My vision continues to inspire audiences across diverse cultural and artistic landscapes.
